Disabled Holidays with Hoists

Two separate holiday lets, complete with hoists, wet rooms and profiling beds. Select the property that suits your needs best; Mountain Lodge caters for those with acute allergies while Coastal Cottage is pet friendly and suitable for those with visual impairments, both have looped hearing systems. Peak time bookings, April to October, are Saturday to Saturday, off peak bookings are available from October to April for a minimum 3 nights.

Care can also be provided by You Are My Sunshine - please inquire and book care directly through their website.

Each property includes two dedicated WAV parking spaces, along with additional parking for a carer’s vehicle, ensuring convenient and accessible arrival for guests and their support teams.

What to expect from a stay at Lower Laurel Farm

Bedroom 1

This specialist bedroom boasts a profiling bed, looped tracking hoist from bed to wet room with H frame in the bathroom. There is an additional single bed, sliding door access, wardrobe, vanity unit and stool, patio door, blackout curtains and luxury bedding.

The en suite is a wet room based on changing places design with wet room shower, drop-down shower seat, changing bench, wheelchair accessible sink, high toilet and grab rails.

Bedroom 2

Can be set up as a double bed or 2 singles, (select at check out). Complete with vanity table with stool, wardrobe, patio doors, sliding door access, blackout curtains and luxury bedding. The ensuite boasts a free standing bath and sliding door access.

Bedroom 3

A generous double bedroom complete with vanity table with stool, wardrobes, patio doors, sliding door access, blackout curtains and luxury bedding. The ensuite is furnished with a walk in shower and sliding door access.

Disabled Holiday with Hoists Features

The properties are equipped with hoists, wet rooms, sunken floor mats, dual height hobs and sinks, sliding doors, light weight pans, easy grip utensils, no pour kettles and other features designed for those with disabilities.

We understand that some people have more specific requirements so in addition to the facilities mentioned above, Mountain Lodge lodge is tailored further to enable those with acute allergies to holiday in a safe environment, whilst Coastal Cottage is pet friendly, tailored to those with visual impairments.

Heating and Cooling

Comfort across Mountian Lodge and Coastal Cottage has also received an upgrade. Immediately following the June 2026 heatwave, the owners installed Ecosmart thermal reflective film to every window. The product is proven to reflect around 60% of the thermal energy that would otherwise enter the buildings, making a noticeable difference to indoor temperatures during the warmer months.

Comfort in the cooler months is resolved through an eco-friendly and efficient underfloor heating system that runs throughout the properties, ensuring a comfortable welcome in any season.

Specialist optional equipment as pictured above: Rifton HTS tilt in space chair in size large and medium, a mobile hoist and we also have two P-Pods, size 4 and 5. Each proprty has an Aquatec Tilt in space shower chair as well as standard shower seat.

Accessible BBQ Lodge

Part-funded by the Rural England Prosperity Fund 2023, our Accessible BBQ Lodge has been thoughtfully conceived with Occupational Therapy input and purpose built from first principles to create a space that is both beautifully welcoming and genuinely inclusive. Every detail has been carefully considered to ensure comfort, ease and enjoyment for all guests.

With level, threshold-free access throughout, the lodge has been designed so that wheelchair users can remain fully included and at the centre of the experience. Seating up to 10 guests, it also offers ample space to accommodate a large powered wheelchair with ease, allowing everyone to gather together in comfort.

In keeping with our wider design ethos, the BBQ Lodge is a flexible, multi-functional space. At its heart, it is a top-of-the-range BBQ setting, ideal for relaxed evenings and shared dining. It also provides a calm and inviting place to unwind around a small enclosed log fire, while its thoughtful design allows it to serve as an Occupational Therapy-informed sensory space when needed.

The result is a space that combines practicality, warmth and elegance — designed to bring people together in a setting that feels every bit as considered as the rest of the stay.
